Graphic Design

I love design and the power that it has for communicating a message. I believe in creating unique styles with bold colours, balanced font combinations and a toolbox of elements to stand out in the crowd. In 2018, I started teaching myself and practising graphic design for several projects. Since then, a lot has happened. In my jobs as well as my current volunteering roles, I have been creating brands from scratch, further developing landscapes of brand elements, and designing materials for uses from social media posts to documents. I have also started designing logos and have been leading on several webdesign projects from the client’s side.

  • European Youth Energy Network (EYEN), the federation placing youth at the heart of the European energy transition – since 2021
  • Academy of Non-Profit Associations (Akademie Ehrenamtlicher Vereine, AEV) – since 2020
  • EIT Manufacturing, one of the Knowledge and Innovation Communities of the European – 2021 Institute of Innovation and Technology

The European Youth Energy Network (EYEN)

I’m both a maker and leader at heart. Before becomig the comms coordinator of the European Youth Energy Network in spring 2021, I took charge of its branding process. Over many more months between summer 2021 and winter 2022, in a million iterations, I created many designs and could finally say: we’re getting there, this visual brand works. I then distilled the essence of it into EYEN’s brandbook. EYEN is the unique federation uniting energy-focused youth organisations in Europe and reshaping youth engagement towards a just, empowered and collaborative energy transition.

#process BEHIND THE SCENES…THIS IS HOW I REALLY WORK.

Collecting messages at one glance and blowing up the main ones, daring to be bold, giving space to defining elements (by now you’ll know that gradient is the master one of EYEN), playing with white space and background, systematising elements to reuse, testing colours, doing design guides, iterating till it just fits. This is the process – and I love it. 

Ashoka - #EveryoneAChangemaker

As part of my comms job I’ve had fun updating the current national branding, creating templates, finding ways to communicate systems change and the knowledge of the global non-profit that built up the social entrepreneurship field, and much more. I firmly believe that beauty and functionality can go hand in hand, and that it requires mastery in visuals and words to move people and achieve social impact.

Turning back time: the Academy of Non-Profit Associations in Austria

My time as a board member of the Akademie Ehrenamtlicher Vereine also marked the start of my adventure into branding. I was lucky to pick up inputs in workshops and on the internet, and started teaching myself. After a few messy mood bards we had a branding that was fresh and versatile to represent a youth network for interdisciplinary, cross-pollinating exchange between non-profit associations. Turning back time: the LCOY Austria Climate Conference

As I co-founded Austria’s youth climate conference in 2018 at age 21, little did I know about graphic design. Actually – nothing, and I still cringe at my first crooked attempts at it (not depicted here out of respect to your eyes). This didn’t stop me and I taught myself the trade of arranging forms, colours and carefully crafted messages into something bigger. My passion for the ambitious project that I would lead for two years, sparked my creativity and will to communicate a fresh conference that would stand out from they myriad of environmental projects and depict its ambition in bringing together a breadth of stakeholders and experts. Activists, civil servants, politicians, coaches, scientists, civil society representatives and much more. In different types of sessions.
